AT A GLANCE
Shadow is driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We are community-driven and strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits. We support other grassroots organizations to bring the most help to those in need as we can!
We are not strangers to addiction, homelessness, poverty, mental health issues, loss and through our collective experiences, we are able to bring compassion and understanding to our street friends.
It all started with a poem written by Brigitte Boulay (Lord) after she did street outreach at -30C. She was filled with sadness and felt that something more could be done! The poem became a song which was composed by Tara Holloway and co-produced by Tara and Tony Diteodoro (MonkeyJunk). Check out the lyric video! Then came the book entitled We Live in the Shadows - True stories about homelessness, then the organization (Shadow Org) was born! The core team includes Shawna, Christopher, Taylor and Brigitte.
Up next will be Shadow Cafe! Shadow Café will be an all-inclusive, non-denominational, pet friendly dropin to feed anyone who is hungry. It will be like coming home to a good meal.
Please help us open Shadow Café! Reach out to find out how you can help.
We are honored to be amongst Ottawa's finest humans! Nominated for the CBC 2019 Trailblazer Award, finalist for the FACES of Ottawa Award for 2018 and 2019 and recipient of the Government of Canada Extraordinary Achievement Award.

We see ourselves as part of a community and everything we do is community-driven. WE bring goodness to our street friends.
We are often called up during times of crisis and with your help... we deliver!
We organize biweekly events to bring food, coffee and essential items to our friends on the streets. We believe in bringing people together to help those in need. From collecting donations to including people in our outreach events... we do it all together!
With this initiative, our goal is to raise funds for our drop in centre scheduled to open in 2020. We have a lot of work to do before we open our doors! ShadowFest is an afternoon/evening in October filled with music and art to bring local artists to the forefront while raising funds for our homeless or at risk of being homeless. Learn more about our work by getting in touch with our team today.
Cupid does exist!! We believe that in order for humans to thrive, we all need love. We celebrate our street friends by showing them that we love them and we have a party in their honor. We collect donations to provide surprise bags and we have a feast with good food and deserts... it's a good old fashioned party!
